PETIT SURI SILK is a yarn of exceptional softness, composed of 65% Baby Suri Alpaca and 35% silk.

A delicate alternative to mohair, Baby Suri offers a soft, silky, and airy halo, while bringing warmth and lightness to your creations. The silk that forms the core of the yarn provides finesse and luminosity.

Its brushed texture creates an airy and slightly fuzzy look. It can be knitted alone for a lightweight project or held with another yarn to add softness, warmth, and a halo. Particularly well-suited for use as a carry-along yarn.

• Composition : 65% Baby Suri Alpaca – 35% silk
• Format : 400 m – 50 g
• Weight : Lace – Non-Superwash
• Baby Suri micron count : 22.5 microns
• Recommended needles :
• Alone : from 3 mm for a light and airy result; the needle size can be increased depending on the desired effect
• Held with a fingering or DK weight yarn : adapt the needles to the project gauge; PETIT SURI SILK will then add a soft and enveloping halo
• Dyeing : Hand-dyed in my studio

My opinion : PETIT SURI is a beautiful alternative to mohair, especially if you are looking for a softer and silkier halo. Baby Suri gives a particularly enveloping touch and a lovely drape, while the silk brings light to the yarn.

Note on colors : alpaca absorbs dye differently than merino and mohair. Colors may therefore appear softer and slightly muted, with a beautiful watercolor effect.
